Letter, 1862 October 4, and envelope from George Nichols of Suffield to William C. Ives, Providence, RI, regarding friends who were wounded or killed at the Battle of Antietam while serving with the 16th Connecticut Regiment. Also a letter, 1862 December 30, and envelope from Merrick Child, Camp Parapet, Louisiana, with the 26th Regiment, to his aunt, Mrs. Emily Law, Danielsonville, Connecticut, describing his voyage from Camp Buckingham to Louisiana, the camp, and the availability of food. An image of the capitol building is printed at the top of the paper.
